7 Best Restaurants in London, Ontario

Did you know London is a culinary city?  We love food here and we love finding ways to make it even better.  Here’s some of our suggestions for the best restaurants you can dine at while you’re in town.

Plant Matter Kitchen

$$
162 Wortley Rd, London, ON N6C 3P7
Website

Plant Matter Kitchen is an amazing vegetarian restaurant with dishes so delicious, you’ll never know there’s no meat.  The menu has a lot of options, so everyone can find something they’ll like.  Their spanokopita is delicious – fresh and flavorful, especially with the tzatziki sauce, but the real standout dish is macaroni and cheese, rich, creamy, and decadant.  Close out your meal with one of their cocktails – the Espresso Martini is sure to wake you up.

The Works

$
145 King St, London, ON N6A 1C3
Website

Sometimes, you just want some classic food.  Hit The Works, a gourmet burger joint, that takes the tried and true formula of a ground beef patty on a bun to a whole new level.  Get the Sk8r Boy – it sounds like a weird combination, but you won’t regret it.  The creamy sweetness of the peanut butter plays well against the salty bacon – and the dish goes perfectly with one of their amazing milkshakes.  Enjoy a casual lunch before continuing to explore London.

Waldo’s Bistro

$$$
130 King St, London, ON N6A 1C5
Website

It’s bistro food gone upscale.  Waldo’s Bistro has figured out how to take a traditional menu and add their own flair to it.  When you walk in, definitely order the wine sampler so you can try several of their offerings.  Meal-wise, the Beef Tenderloin Rossini cannot be beat, or maybe the Baked Chicken Pesto is more your style.  Either way, finish your meal with a serving of the Chocolate Mousse Cake – you don’t want to miss it!

Abruzzi

$$$
119 King St, London, ON N6A 1C3
Website

Like the region it’s named after, Abruzzi has real Italian flavor.  Try their bone marrow – the flavor is absolutely explosive.  If you prefer fish, their Pan-Seared Branzino is flawless, simple but flavorful, and certainly reminiscent of its Southern Italian roots.  The dessert menu is equally as impressive.  While tiramisu is classic, and naturally, Abruzzi does an amazing version of it, the smore brownie will make your mouth water.

The Tasting Room

$$$
483 Richmond St, London, ON N6A
Website

They serve entrees and full meals, but the real draw to the Tasting Room is their varied and creative appetizer menu.  Order several appetizers and just dine tapas-style.  Favorites include curry mussels, lobster lollipops, and the insanely delicious quinoa zucchini cakes.  Pair them with a wine flight, featuring four different wines within a category.

Aroma of India

Kick lunch up a notch at Aroma of India.  They have perfected the art of balancing spices to provide heat without compromising flavor.  You can’t go wrong with anything on their menu, but the saag aloo is perfection on a plate.  Try a cool and fresh lassi as well, and you’ll be ready to explore the city for hours.

Haven’s Creamery

$
226 Piccadilly St, London, ON N6A 1S4
Website

Sometimes you just need some ice cream.  Haven’s Creamery may not be a restaurant, but thanks to their delicious and creative ice cream flavors, they certainly deserve a place on this list.  Order a seasonal flavor (at Christmas, they have peppermint cocoa!) and enjoy as you wander around the city.

Hit as many of these places as you can while you’re in town!
