Celebrate Family Day

February 20th is Family Day in Ontario, a national holiday observed in numerous provinces. It’s not federally established, which means federal employees are still on the job, but it’s a wildly popular and highly celebrated day. Established as the day to spend time with families, it’s also a welcome break between New Year’s Day and Good Friday, when many in Canada don’t get any days off.

Popular activities on Family Day include skating, snowboarding, winter festivals and playing hockey. Also a foodie holiday, binging on pancakes and maple syrup is common, and it’s a fantastic excuse to check out some of the best breakfast restaurants in town.

Pancakes for All

Start off your Family Day right with a stack of pancakes at Cora. Pancakes can be topped with delicious cherries or blueberries, or try out the French toast, crepes (savory and sweet), waffles and more. Kids have their own menu featuring child-sized pancakes and other goodies.

Symposium Café Restaurant and Lounge offers caramel banana French toast and French toast with Chantilly cream and crushed Oreos in a honey batter, and you can always choose to add chocolate chips to any of your breakfast concoctions, which pairs perfectly with their house table syrup.
