Coming Up: Comic-Con

Get your geek on at London’s Comic-Con!

Coming Up: Comic-Con

Held at the RBC Place downtown, it’s a two-day celebration of “geek” culture – comic books, celebrities, and superheroes!

Celebrity Appearances

Some big names will be present at the event.  Q&A sessions will be hosted with Cooper Andrews from The Walking Dead, X-Files‘ Mitch Pileggi and William B. Davis, and Tom Grummet, illustrator of Spiderman and Superboy and creator of X-Men Forever.  You can also have your photo taken with Irene Bedard of Pocahontas, Tara Spencer-Naim of The Outer Limits, Denise Crosby of Star Trek: The New Generation, and Tim Curry, who has starred in The Rocky Horror Picture Show, IT, and Star Wars!

Competitions

If you’ve got a competitive spirit, you’ll love the various competitions happening at Comic-Con.  Show off your sword-wielding skills in the Epic Sword Battle or show off your moves in the Lip Sync Challenge.  Cosplayers will want to enter the Cosplay Craftsmanship Contest.  Gamers have their choice of competitions – there’s a Catan tournament, a Halo tournament, Super Smash Brothers, and even Mario Kart 8!

KidZone

Kids are more than welcome at the event and there will be plenty to entertain them in the KidZone.  Meet Spiderman or the Disney Princesses, make pop culture crafts, and even play kid-appropriate video games!  A few children’s authors will also be present, reading their books at StoryTime – Mark Gunning (I Told You So series), and Colleen Bartlet (Fill Up Phillip series) are just two who have signed up.

Other Entertainment

If you’re still looking for things to do, try attending a live podcast – Stuart Foley will be there, recording a new Trekyards epidsode, as will QuarterPortion, talking about the bad guys in the Star Wars series.  For laughs, attend the FanFiction performance, or show off your voice at the Rocky Horror Sing-A-Long.  Fans will also love the opportunity to explore the Jeep from Jurassic Park or to sit in Captain Kirk’s chair (fully functioning) from Star Trek.

If you’re a pop culture fan, you’re not going to want to miss a moment of Comic-Con!
