This weekend is the smelliest weekend of the year in nearby Stratford, Ontario!
Spend two days seeing and tasting every possible use for garlic at the Stratford Kiwanis Garlic Festival. Learn about all the cultures in which garlic is a mainstay of the cuisine, and enjoy browsing the artisan craft booths that will be set up if you want to start your holiday shopping a bit early.
Food
Watch cooking demonstrations, see presentations from various chefs, and enjoy tastings and pairings of all types of food – not just garlic. Learn how to properly pair wine and cheese, or the best beverage to pair with chocolate. The garlic festival is really about the culinary arts as a whole, and you’ll have the chance to enjoy dishes from some of Ontario’s best restaurants and food trucks.
Activities
Beyond food, learn about the importance of bees in nature, the economy, and the world in general at the Nith Valley Apiary booth. You can also join a festival-wide treasure hunt, and shop in the artisan market. Various local creators will be selling their wares, from Azure Owls’ hand-painted pillows to stunning hand-made jewelry from Cindrea Brooke. You can pick up gifts for the holidays or a few things for yourself!
Entertainment
It’s not a festival without live music, so musical performers such as Kim Souch and Rick Francis will be found on stage. The smooth and rich sounds provide the perfect backdrop as you see everything the festival has to offer.
