Your London Lightning Basketball Cheat Sheet
You’re visiting London during the perfect time—basketball season! What began as a charter member team of the National Basketball League of Canada has grown tremendously since their inaugural 2011-12 season. Home games are at Budweiser Gardens, and were previously headed by coach Micheal Ray Richardson, former NBA all-star. The Lightning won the 2012 NBL championship, two consecutive league championships in 2012-13, and the best of five series 3-1.
Today, the Lightning coach is Carlos Knox, who led the team in breaking the league attendance record with 8,725 fans in attendance. Charged with making basketball big in Canada, the Lightning team has gained fame around the globe as a superior team. This year’s season kicked off in October, and there are plenty of home games throughout November and December you can check out while in town.

Home games at Budweiser Center are scheduled for November 1, 9, 15, 23 and 27, as well as December 11, 18, and 27. Watch the team take on the Windsor Express, Brampton A’s, Island Storm, and Moncton Miracles. Tickets are available online, or ask your Stoneridge front desk staff for help securing seats and transportation options.
The team partners with a number of non-profits in the area, and is committed to working with local youth to promote fitness, recreation, and teamwork.
