London Mother’s Day Ideas For Every Type Of Mom

If you’re going to be visiting London for Mother’s Day this year, check out our ideas on nice ways to celebrate!

Celebrate Mother's Day In London, Ontario

For Moms Who Love Culture

Is Mom a fan of live theater?  Catch a showing of Mamma Mia at the Grand Theatre London at 2:00 pm on Sunday.  It’s a great option for Mother’s Day, as it tells the story of a single mother and her daughter in Greece, and how tight their bond is in a lighthearted manner.

If you have younger kids, you may want to attend The Original Kids Theatre‘s performance of The Seussification Of A Midsummer Night’s Dream.  Based on the Shakespeare play, it’s a new portrayal of the classic story of love triangles, true love, and magic.  The theatre traded in Shakespeare’s classic iambic pentameter meter for Seuss’s preference for rhyming couplets, and the script is designed for people of all ages to understand and appreciate the play.

Storybook Gardens is hosting a Wonderland Tea Party for Mother’s Day, with free admission for all mothers!  Not only will you be able to enjoy all of their normal rides and activities, but you’ll drink tea and enjoy delicious scones with the Queen of Hearts or the Cheshire Cat.  Plan on dressing up like a character to make the most of your visit!

If Mom isn’t into fairy tales, perhaps she’d prefer attending brunch at the London Convention Centre, conveniently attached to the Children’s Museum.  After Mom enjoys a mimosa, food, and live music, the whole family can go play Giant Jenga or dig for dinosaur bones.

For Bohemian Moms

Is Mom a bit of a bohemian?  Attend Every Golden Moment‘s picnic brunch and let Mom enjoy the day among flowers, wearing her very own flower crown.  The food will be vegan and fresh, without compromising flavor, and there will even be live music to set the mood.  It makes for a soothing and relaxing morning, providing the break every mom needs!

Another option is to attend Purdy Natural‘s Plants And Crystals workshop, where you can make matching crystal bracelets and air-plant terrariums to take home.  Instructors will be sharing the meanings of different crystals so you can pick stones that best symbolize your own relationship.  It’s a fun and crafty way to spend time together.

If Mom loves crafts and DIY projects, go to Maggie’s Mudroom.  They’re having an all day event (broken into two parts – make sure you get both tickets), Start with brunch, featuring an amazing waffle bar, then the whole family can paint some pottery to take home – maybe pots for Mom to grow beautiful flowers in.  Then attend an afternoon tea, with finger sandwiches and miniature gourmet tarts.

If Mom isn’t a fan of painting, attend The Sage Soap Company’s beauty workshop, where you can learn to make all-natural beauty products, like lip balm.  The store will serve beverages throughout the event, and in addition to your products, everyone gets to take home a small flower arrangement!

For Moms Who Love History

Fanshawe Pioneer Village is hosting a lunch on Mother’s Day, the perfect break for a day of learning about life in the 1800s.  Watch the demonstrations and shop in the general store, then settle down for a classic meal of roast chicken with vegetables – and don’t miss the pies available for dessert!

If the Pioneer Village isn’t your style, attend High Tea at Leaping Deer Adventure Farm.  Venture through the corn maze, or take a tractor tour around the farm to learn more about life on a farm, then enjoy biscuits with Devon cream and jam at the cafe.  There’s various activities for all ages, so everyone will have a great time.

For Food-Loving Moms

Every mom enjoys a break from cooking now and again.  Give your mom a break by attending one of the various brunches in London.  Toast Wine Bar‘s brunch will be accompanied by the option for bottomless mimosas, to help Mom wash down the amazing frittata she’ll dine on, and is followed by a charity clothing auction benefitting sexual abuse victims.  Or maybe you’d prefer to eat at Dark Horse Estate, where the buffet brunch will include roast beef, Belgian waffles, an omelette bar, and a pasta bar.  Afterwards, you can enjoy a tour of the winery!

Thank Mom for everything she’s done by enjoying a weekend in London!
