London’s Lunar New Year
Help usher in the Year of the Rooster on January 28th with the London Chinese Association! Every year, a big gala is hosted where you’ll find endless delectable and authentic Chinese dishes, the famed lion dance, folk artists and performers, and more. Held at the Sir Frederick Banting Secondary School, tickets are $15 and free for children under 12 and seniors over 65.
Throughout the year, the Association offers regular and special events including a badminton, karaoke and fishing club, a peer mentor program, and an English conversational group. Dance classes and language classes are also available.
More Parties to Crow About
Every Chinese restaurant in the London area celebrates the Lunar New Year in a different way, often offering special dishes only available during January and February. Those visiting London for longer stays can check out the Dragon Gala on February 11th, located at the London Convention Centre with dancing, dinner, entertainment and a non-stop party.
Tickets for both festivals are best reserved early. You don’t want to miss ringing in 2017 in style or all the fun and food that these parties are known for.
